CensorNet Synchronisation Service

The CensorNet Synchronisation Service is a system service that runs on Windows Server 2003 and above. The purpose of the service is to synchronise the Active Directory structure with the CensorNet server, specified during installation. With the service running, you do not need to manually update CensorNet with changes to the Active Directory (users, groups, etc).

The service can synchronise based on Organisational Unit (OU) or Primary Group.

NOTE: The software must be installed by a user with administrator priviliges.
REQUIREMENTS: CensorNet v4 (1.5.37) or above required, and .NET 3.5 Framework installed on your Windows Domain Controller.

Installation



WINDOWS SERVER 2008 NOTE: You must download this registry file and run it first. Then right click on the CensorNet Synchronisation Service install file and choose "Run as Administrator".

Installation of the service is straightforward. You will be prompted to enter the CensorNet Server IP and a secret password (which should be configured under Objects -> Synchronise -> with Active Directory on the CensorNet server).


Next, you will be prompted to select the synchronisation method - by Organisational Unit (OU) or Primary Group.


You can change the details after installation by using the Service Monitor, which is installed under Start -> All Programs.
