This article describes how you can disable, or at least reduce, the use of the Unblock Request button that is commonly available on block alerts.
If you don't want the functionality of the Request Unblock button at all, then you can turn it off. All you need to do is log into the command line and type the following command :-
touch /etc/cnv4/disable_unblock_request
The Unblock Request button is still displayed on block messages, however if a user attempts to use it, they will receive a further message telling them that the request cannot be sent and that the facility has been disabled.
I like the functionality, but some people abuse it. What can I do?
If people keep resubmitting a request, when you've dismissed it, then consider instead assigning it to a Custom URL category which is configured as blocked in your policies.
With their site safely in a suitable Custom URL category (one that is blocked of course), they will still get blocked from the site, however, the notice informing them of the ban will no longer have an Unblock Request button to press, so they will not be able to re-submit it.
