This article explains reasons why, when checking for a HostID in order to request a license, you may find it blank, and what to do about it.

If you get a blank HostID when checking for the details to give to the sales dept, it is normally because your network card has not been defined as eth0.

If you read the instructions on how to force network card detection order, you can arrange for your card to become eth0 - after which the system will display a valid HostID for you to use.
