How to block Google chat within GoogleMail

Synopsis

You have given access to Google mail (Gmail) but you do not want users having access to Google chat within the Gmail system

You can block Google chat from operating within Gmail by adding the following URL's to a Custom URL category that is set to Block in your active policy:

chatenabled.mail.google.com:443
chatenabled.mail.google.com

You should also make sure that you do not have any conflicting rules, if you have "Allowed sites override blocked sites" checked. For example, if you have allowed mail.google.com:443 then that rule will override the ones above. You should either remove this rule, or change your policy conflict mode to "Block rules override allow rules".
