Installing the Active Directory User Identification Agent

This article explains how to install the Active Directory User Identification Agent for CensorNet Professional.

Article

The CensorNet Active Directory Agent is a system service that sends network login credentials to CensorNet Professional for the purposes of identifying users and computers. The software should be installed on Windows 2000, 2003 or 2008 domain controller(s) and will run as a system service with administrator rights. Currently the software supports a single domain.

NOTE: The service is not designed to work in Citrix / Terminal Services environments. In this case, please configure Transparent NTLM as the user authentication option within CensorNet.

The Active Directory Agent service is available as an MSI package.

Requirements:

  • Administrator rights on the computer you are installing onto
  • CensorNet Professional v1.5.x or above
  • .NET 2.0 framework

 

Installation

IMPORTANT: You should install the CensorNet Active Directory agent on all Domain Controllers within your domain.

WINDOWS SERVER 2008 NOTE: You must download this registry file and run it first. Then right click on the CensorNet Active Directory Agent install file and choose "Run as Administrator"

Installation of the service is straightforward. During installation you will be prompted to provide the IP address and port number of the CensorNet server on your network. You will also be asked to enter a secret key, which you should also configure within the CensorNet web control panel under System -> Configuration -> User Authentication. The secret keys must match exactly on both the service and the server.

You can change the details after installation by using the Service Monitor, which is installed under Start -> Programs.
