iTunes prompts for authentication and/or fails to load iTunes Store

Article

There is an issue with iTunes and the CensorNet proxy server in version 1.8.5 and below, whereby the iTunes store references a URL with a trailing "." e.g. apple.com. and this is deemed an Invalid Request by CensorNet. This is fixed in v1.8.6 so we recommend you upgrade your CensorNet server software.

When using iTunes you are prompted to login. To solve this, you need to add the following URL's to the Filter Bypass module, under Filters -> Bypass module -> Categories.

metrics.apple.com
itunes.apple.com:443
itunes.apple.com
apple.com/itunes
apple.com.edgesuite.net
phobos.apple.com

Also, you may have to add this URL, depending on your location.

mzstatic.com

mzstatic.com:443

This will prevent the authentication box from appearing.

MobileME

The MobileME client requires the following pattern to be added to the Filter Bypass module:

www.mac.com:443
