Synopsis

If you use Windows Live for e-mail and you have Web based e-mail and Social Network categories blocked, you may need to create a new Custom URL category containing the Windows Live addresses. This article explains how.

Article

To allow full access to Windows Live you should follow these steps:

First, create a new Custom URL category by going to Filters -> Custom URL -> Categories. Choose a name for the category, e.g. "Live.com"

Add the following URL patterns to the category:

.accountservices.msn.com

.accountservices.msn.com:443

.live.com

.live.com:443

.microsoft.com:443

.outlook.com:443

.wlxrs.com:443

Once these have been added, you now need to make sure this Custom URL category is set to Allow in your policies. Go to Policies -> Manage Policies and click on each of the policies you want to allow Windows Live in. Scroll down to the Custom URL module and make sure the Live.com category is set to Allow, then click Update Policy. Repeat this for each of the policies you wish to allow Windows Live in.
