1. What is CensorNet Professional?

CensorNet Professional is a powerful, scalable and affordable side-ways proxy server that filters Web content using a number of techniques. These include real-time context analysis in multiple languages, a known database of categorised sites and sophisticated image content analysis. In addition, the proxy server supports granular filtering rules based on group policies, scheduling, multiple administrator roles, user authentication, workstation identification, bandwidth limiting and comprehensive reporting to allow the administrator to deploy an effective Internet Usage Policy. 2. How comprehensive is the URL database?

The CensorNet Category Server is a highly optimised database of over 59,000,000 web sites categorised into over 50 categories. The database is updated on a daily basis. If a site that doesn't exist in the database is requested, CensorNet will use sophisticated real-time raters to analyse the page content before it is delivered to the browser. 3. Is this a software or a hardware product?

CensorNet Professional is a software solution that runs on Linux, a completely free operating system. Don't worry, very little Linux experience is required to use CensorNet and if you have never used it before then our Technical Support staff will gladly assist. Once Linux is installed on your chosen server, CensorNet Professional can be installed over the Internet in a matter of minutes and updated via a simple but effective package management system. 4. Can I buy a plug-and-play appliance?

We supply a range of appliances in the form of 1u and 2u servers with the CensorNet Professional software pre-installed. Please contact a member of our sales team to discuss the various options.

5. How is the product licensed/priced?

Per seat. CensorNet Professional is sold as a yearly subscription. This entitles the licensee to unlimited technical support, daily updates to the Category Server database and all product updates during the subscription period. The subscription is paid for yearly in advance and the price is based upon the number of "seats" required, for example this may be one for every employee or in an Education environment one seat for each concurrent user.

6. Do you provide discounts for specialist organisations?

We offer substantial discounts for educational/academic organisations, charities, not-for-profit organisations and regional discounts based on geographic location. Please contact us for a personalised quotation.

7. Can I try before I buy?

Of course. We offer a 14-day trial so that you can test drive the CensorNet Professional product. This is a fully functional version of the product however the trial uses a centrally hosted Category Server to demonstrate the power of CensorNet's filtering. Once you purchase a subscription then you will be entitled to download a copy of the 2GB database to your server for even faster performance.

8. How scalable is CensorNet Professional?

CensorNet Professional has been tested on a wide range of hardware accross a diverse customer base. On a standard off the shelf server, the CensorNet proxy can handle approximately 80 requests per second, or 28,000 in a five minute period!
